the weather's been fluctuating between summer days and winter nights. both are equally frustrating esp when i'm wearing too much on a hot day, and too little when it's cold.
school's been ok so far, econ tut has finally started, which only adds on to the workload. accounting is confusing, and well, frustrating again, when 1 mistake means you have to redo the whole solution. finance is the easiest to cope with thus far, simple math formulas and tons of stuff to memorise abt financial instruments.
it's getting kinda routine ard here...tuts, lectures, sleep, eat & study. there's nothing really exciting to look forward to. starting to feel sian alr. i juz unpack and repack all the goodies in my room to past time. heh...
i'll be going skiing on some mountain this wkend with the ppl at college. not tt i know them very well, but i might as well make use of the opportunity since i'm here alr, it's surely cheaper than going on a ski trip from sg. so ya...busy clearing my homework now in time for tuts next wk.
attended a reception last night. basically a mingling session. met a few ppl from all over the world, mauritians, bangladesh, malaysians etc. but ya, it was mainly small talk (wad course are you doing, where are you staying, how are you finding it so far? etc.) so ya, another boring session to pass time. the food there made up for it though. there was red wine, champagne, coke, soda etc, foodwise we had smoked salmon served on biscuits, tandoori chicken on satay sticks, mushroom pie, spinach rolls. it was an unusual fare from what i normally eat. and the salmon was really good. i really regreted having lunch yst, shud have saved more stomach space for the goodies!
everytime i go to the supermart to walk around, i always end up buying something. cos there's always something having a really gd discount. i suck when it comes to resisting discounts, esp when it's a real gd bargain. accumulating food in my room...and the muffins, my goodness, buy 1 get 1 free!! the muffins are huge in comparison to the puny ones we have back home and if you work out the sums, it costs only $1.60 each for the huge muffin!! but how can i possibly finish the muffins by myself? the college here caters food even.
too much tempting food ard...need to lose weight!!

my 4th wk here in sydney! haha...it sounds like such a long time alr...
the weather was really WARM tdy, i heard it hit 27 degC!! how can it still be considered winter under such conditions? explains why i was feeling so stuffy last night in bed...luckily my room managed to keep pretty cool today despite the heat outside...
the food at college's been pretty good the past few days, there was lasagne, spagetti bolognaise, vanilla slice for desert & some chicken cutlet thing tdy. there's going to be muffins for breakfast tmr!! an incentive to get up early. yst morn, i woke up juz 15 mins b4 bfast ended, so i quickly rushed down to grab as much food as i could. i walked into the serving area, and lo & behold, i saw the LAST hard-boiled egg there, so i quickly grabbed it and put it in my pocket while i went to pack sandwiches for lunch. while i was happily walking back to my room, i felt in my pocket to find my egg gone!! argh...i wonder how i dropped it! oh man, i thot i was super lucky to get the last egg there, but it wasn't meant to be! din bother going all the way down to find the lost egg...better luck next time i hope :)
i'm addicted to chocs here! it's terrible, the craving always kicks in either after lunch or dinner, and my room's so small, there's no where i can hide the chocs. evn though i tried to keep the chocs in containers so tt they'll be out of sight, i still dig them out in the end. so much for self-control. no wonder ppl here are rounder, i would be one of them too if i grew up here!
going to buy supper from the shopping centre soon...krispy kreme...haha

it's the 3rd wk of sch alr...can't really say time flies, but it is passing by pretty past. 5 more days n it'll be my 1st month anniversary alr. haha...
my mum's friend's friend is working over here, so he brought me sightseeing on sun. haha...he took me to newport, some place near his residence. the beaches there were really nice. it was juz a very long coastline, the cliffs separating the beaches from one another. i could tell he really loved the sea a lot...haha, we had lunch at newport hotel, overlooking the sea and spit. wow, can't find such scenaries in sg! aftward, he took me to one of the beaches for a walk, then to the top of the cliff so tt i could get a bird's eye view of all the beaches. it was lovely! haha...the scenary felt like it came straight out of my geog textbook! i hope he'll bring me sailing or fishing soon!! haha
gotta go for dinner now, tah

middle of the wk alr, though it's only wk 2 now. got 4 hrs of lectures lined up later today...wonder how i'll survive...
the weather here changes so drastically. yst afternoon, b4 my lect, the sun was nice & warm. some crazy ppl living at my hostel were even suntanning at the open field behind my hostel (suntanning in winter!!!). so i thot since the weather's so comfortable today, i'll juz pull over a jacket over my t-shirt & wear slippers to lectures. tt plan worked well initially; evn with so thin clothes on, i was feeling hot inside. aft lect, i went to lib to use their free internet services (haha, thriftness is a virtue). by the time i left, the sky was dark alr. once i stepped outside, my toes froze!! my feet were numb!! it was so damn cold, my goodness. and though the hostel is on campus, the walk back to hostel seemed extremely long last night!! my poor toes. thank goodness it's not snowing, otherwise i'd definitely have lost them to frost bite. one very impt lesson i learnt yst: never wear slippers out in winter, the weather can be deceiving.
there was this census form everyone had to fill up last night. it's basically a questionaire set by the aus stat dept to find out the population distribution in aus. they wanna know the places ppl live at, their marital status & stuff. how come sg doesn't conduct such surveys?
anyway, on mon, i received an sms from my sec sch teacher. surprises isn't always pleasant. he msged to inform the passing of my chem teacher. she passed away on sun aft a cancer relapse. i was shocked when i read the text. everyone kind of expected this day would be coming, but we all din know when. she had breast cancer while she was teaching me (my class) in sec 3, so she took a few months off for treatment. in sec 4, she came back aft she was cleared of cancer. her hair was juz abt 2cm short at that time. i can still rmb how almost everyone in class got scolded by her b4, how strict she'd be, always preaching to us her beliefs, how her small hunchbacked frame can instill fear from 10m away, her eyes which form a straight line whenever she does laugh...
she was scary, prob evn fearsome. she's the type of teachers everyone would have had at least once b4 in their entire schooling life, whose mere presence can sent shivers down your spine. but nonetheless, she's a well-respected figure. i can't evn rmb wad was the last words i spoke to her, & the last time i saw her was prob when i went back to collect my Os. i nv met her aft tt, though i heard tt her cancer relapsed, and she refused treatment. she chose to stay home & spend her remaining time with her parents. her death still feels so surreal; i can still picture her standing in front of me, scolding me for sth & i'll juz stand there like a fool letting her berate me. sigh...God bless

it's been quite a while since i last blogged. first wk of sch just ended. no tutorials so far, juz lectures, lectures & more lectures.
without a tv in my room, i've got no weather forecast to rely on; some days i end up wearing too thick & feeling very warm, but most of the time i wore too little & end up freezing the entire day. thank goodness for the heater in my room (i juz leave it on the entire day regardless of whether i'm in my room or not), my room is nice & warm whenever i get back. and whenever i shower, the water i bathe with is extremely hot, you can see the steam filling up the entire cubicle. it gets me worried sometimes if all the excessive steam will trigger off the fire alarm and i'll not only be stranded in the toilet, i'll also be slapped with a fine for the false alarm. haha, but so far so good.
my new room at the hostel is getting messier by the day. my shoes are carelessly thrown around the floor, my desk is getting smaller by the day and the cupboard is getting messier & messier. i've pasted some pics brought over from sg to decorate my wall, n my quilt cover is the one i use back home, so there's still a tinge of home in the room. hee:)
there's a shop located at the shopping centre opp the road, selling their havaianas at AUD10 only!! but my feet is so small, there were only 3 colours left which had my size. i wanted the silver, metallic ones, but they were all too huge for my tiny feet. no matter, i bought 2 pairs still. haha, imagine how much i have to pay if i bought them back in sg! such a cheap deal, shud ask my sis if she wans any for herself or not.
yst, i went out with the VJ singaporean guy, his flatmate (also from sg) & this malaysian guy from my hostel to town. we walked from QVB to darling harbour to the rocks to chinatown, then back to QVB. my knees are red & swollen now from all the walking. it's even more than walking up & down orchard road 10 times! n compared to them, i prob walked the most cos my legs r the shortest...we had dinner at chinatown-fried rice, duck meat, ma la tofu & sweet & sour pork ribs-surprisingly, there was a large no of angmohs there having dinner too! the VJ guy wanted to stay on in town longer, but couldn't make up his mind where he wanted to go for coffee, and we ended up walking ard in circles cos of him! decisiveness!! when we were at starbucks, he says he's not a fan of coffee, so we made our way to mac. at mac, he ordered...expresso ("i'm not a caffeine lover.) so full of shit. i can prob start a bitching session abt him soon.
hee :) tt's abt my life story for this wk. the chocs are still in my room, thank goodness i haven't finished them yet! but the cashew nuts r almost gone...
